Your service expiration or next due date is shown in the client area for the product. That date is the one you should rely on for renewal planning.
If the server is important, renew before the due date and make sure billing is handled early. Waiting until the service lapses can create avoidable risk for production workloads.
For anything critical, keep a calendar reminder in addition to watching invoices.
